Wu Zhu is a type of Chinese cash coin first produced during the Han Dynasty in 118 BC, replacing the Ban Liang cash coins. Wu Zhu literally means "five zhu," which was a measure of weight equal to 100 grains of millet, or about 4 grams. These coins were made up until the Tang Dynasty took hold in 618 AD, meaning they had a minting period of 736 years, the longest for any coin in world history.
