Stan Stokes. During the Falklands War, the victorious British forces downed 22 Argentine aircraft without a single loss. Though the jets flown by the Argentineans were faster, the Brits were better trained in air-to-air combat and equipped with more effective missiles. This print depicts an aerial dogfight on May 1, 1982, in which Lt. Steve Thomas of the Royal Navy — flying his Sea Harrier FRS1 — fires a Sidewinder missile at Argentinean Lt. Carlos Perona and his Mirage III, accounting for one of his three kills during the conflict. Signed by the artist. 16"x 11½".
