These coins replicate a 1723 Hibernia halfpenny and farthing. They were patented and minted by William Hood of London for circulation in Ireland, and with a coin shortage in the American Colonies, they became widely distributed there, especially in New York colony. The obverse features a bust of King George I with a Latin phrase translating to "By the Grace of King George." The reverse displays a seated woman by a harp. These replicas come in a coin-collecting flip with a printed description on the insert. Halfpenny - 26 mm. Farthing - 22 mm.
