When the U.S. Air Force witness the outstanding performance of the Navy's F-4H they wanted the aircraft as well. Two USN F-4H-1 Phantom IIs were delivered to Langley Field where they were given new serial numbers until 1962 when the aircraft had been re-designated as F-110 Spectre for the USAF. Later, the version had been named Phantom II with the variant of F-4C.
