The F-14D Tomcat is a supersonic twin-engine variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft developed by Grumman for the U.S. Navy. A modernized version of the original F-14 the F-14D features advanced avionics radar and weapon systems making it one of the most capable carrier-based fighters. It is equipped with a powerful radar system allowing it to track multiple targets simultaneously and engage them with a variety of air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles. The F-14D is renowned for its speed agility and versatility and it served as a key component of U.S. Navy air wings until its retirement in 2006.
