The F-4G Wild Weasel is a specialized version of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II, developed by the U.S. Air Force in the 1970s for electronic warfare and suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD). Designed to target and neutralize enemy radar and surface-to-air missile (SAM) sites, the F-4G was equipped with advanced jamming and targeting systems, including the AN/ALQ-119 radar jamming pod and AGM-88 HARM (High-speed Anti-Radiation Missiles). It could detect and home in on enemy radar signals, enabling it to destroy or disrupt enemy missile systems. The F-4G retained the F-4's powerful Pratt & Whitney J79 engines, allowing it to achieve speeds of over Mach 2. The aircraft's versatility and effectiveness in neutralizing air defenses made it an essential asset during the Gulf War and other conflicts, playing a vital role in protecting strike packages and supporting allied air operations.
