Major Gregory Boyington took command of VMF-214 "Black Sheep" in September of 1943. Being ten years older than most of his pilots, at the age of 31, he earned the name "Pappy". On November 26, 1943, Boyington took a publicity photo while seated in a F4U Corsair. The aircraft name was so obscured in the photograph that there is still speculation if it was called "Lucybelle" or "Lulubelle". This 1/100 scale, die cast replica features the authentic markings of VMF-214, "White 86", "Lulubelle", Vella Lavella, Solomon Islands, November of 1943, as well as realistic antennae and surface details, ordnance loads, and a display stand. 4¾" wingspan.
