The first British jet and the Allies' first operational fighter during WWII, the Gloster Meteor entered service with the RAF in July of 1944. This aircraft was designed to carry a De Havilland engine, but used an alternative engine version, including two Halford H1s for testing purposes. On July, 1945, the F.2 took flight finally, even though variant 3 was already in production that led to the discontinuance of 2.
