The only Luftwaffe fighter wing squadron to fly the Me 163 rocket fighter was the Jagdgeschwader 400 operationally, as well as under the command of Wolfgang Spate - who first flew the aircraft on August, 16 of 1944. Unfortunately, the Komet was short lived because of its limited successes, leading to its demise in April, 1945.
