The Curtiss P-40E Warhawk served as a rugged and reliable fighter for the U.S. Army Air Forces in the China-Burma-India theater in 1942. Powered by an Allison V-1710 engine and armed with six .50 caliber machine guns, it excelled in ground attack and low-to-mid altitude combat. In the challenging CBI environment, the P-40E supported Allied ground forces and defended key supply routes, including the vital "Hump" airlift.
