Assigned to Lt. Jacques E. Young, the P-51D Mustang was given the nickname "Jumpin' Jacques." Young was with the 5th Air Force, 5th Fighter Command, 3rd Air Commando Group, and 3rd Fighter Squadron during 1945. They soon moved to Mindoro, Philippines in January 1945, and then to Luzon, Clark Field in April. Eventually, the unit relocated to Okinawa in July that same year because of the Allies heading towards Japan's mainland.
