The Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) was a German assault gun used during World War II, initially developed to support infantry operations. Introduced in 1939, it was based on the Panzer III chassis and equipped with a 75mm Sturmkanone (StuK 37 or 40) gun, effective against both infantry and armored targets. The StuG III played a key role in German forces' success during early campaigns, especially in tank destroyer roles. Its low profile, speed, and firepower made it highly versatile. By the end of the war, it became the most produced German armored vehicle, with over 10,000 units built.
