Initially named the Tucker Torpedo, the 1948 Tucker Sedan was an advanced automobile conceived by Preston Tucker and briefly produced in Chicago in 1948. Only 51 cars were made before the company folded on March 3, 1949.

This 1/18 scale, die cast model of a rear-engine Tucker Torpedo features a fully equipped interior with an instrument panel and controls, opening "suicide" doors, and glazed windows; a front trunk that opens to reveal removable luggage and a spare tire; separately applied detail parts such as a side-view mirror and glazed headlights (including a directional third headlight, which, known as the "Cyclops Eye," would turn on at steering angles of greater than 10 degrees to light the car's path around corners); plenty of simulated chrome; prototypical fenders; a rear hood that opens to reveal a detailed flat-6 engine; working steering with free-rolling wheels and treaded tires; authentic badging; and more. Measures approximately 10" long and includes a removable display base.
