Stan Stokes. From the middle of 1944 to the end of World War II, the legendary Tuskegee Airmen flew an incredible number of missions in Europe after proving themselves more than capable in the North African campaign of 1943. And, the fighter pilots who flew with the Tuskegee Airmen had the unique distinction, according to some, of not losing a single bomber that they escorted during the war! This print is a re-creation of August 24, 1944, in which Colonel Charles McGee — a man who still holds the Air Force record of most combat missions flown with 409 — downs an Fw-190 over a Czech airfield in his "Kitten" P-51 Mustang. Signed by the artist! 16"x 11½".
