About the A6M2 Zero
Introduced in 1940, the Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero combined exceptional maneuverability, long range and a lightweight airframe that let it outperform most Allied fighters early in the Pacific War. Armed with two 20mm cannons and two 7.7mm machine guns, it lacked armor and self-sealing fuel tanks, vulnerabilities that became more costly as the war progressed.
