Auto World diecast model cars trace back to 1958, when hobbyist Oscar Koveleski launched a mail-order car parts business that grew into one of the best-known names in scale die-cast. Now produced by Round 2 LLC, Auto World models pair heavy 1:18 and 1:64 detail with a catalog that ranges from muscle car icons to cult movie and TV vehicles.

About Auto World

Auto World began in 1958 as a mail-order hobby business started by Oscar Koveleski in Scranton, Pennsylvania, known for its thick annual catalogs of model kits, slot cars, and hobby supplies. The original mail-order operation closed in 1991, and the Auto World name was later revived in the mid-2000s when Round 2's Tom Lowe acquired the rights to the brand from Koveleski.

Today, Auto World operates as part of Round 2 LLC, based in South Bend, Indiana, alongside sibling brands like AMT, Johnny Lightning, and Racing Champions diecast. Round 2 also produces Auto World-branded ThunderJet and X-Traction slot car lines, carrying the brand's racing heritage into a second product category.

What Makes Auto World Collectible

Auto World's 1:64 models are known for heavier, more accurate detailing than many diecast brands offer at that scale, while its 1:18 line targets serious display-case collectors. The catalog leans into pop-culture and licensed subjects — from the Monkeemobile to vehicles from John Wick — alongside genuine muscle car and Petty's Garage racing history, giving both nostalgia collectors and detail-focused hobbyists reasons to dig in.

Popular Auto World Series

A few lines account for much of Auto World's recognition among collectors:

Silver Screen Machines: Vehicles licensed from film and TV, spanning cult classics to modern releases.
Legends of the Quarter Mile: Muscle car and drag-racing replicas built around real racing history.
ThunderJet & X-Traction: Auto World's HO-scale slot car lines, carrying the brand's name into electric racing.
