About the EA-18G Growler
Derived from the F/A-18F Super Hornet, the EA-18G Growler entered U.S. Navy service in 2009 as its dedicated carrier-based electronic-warfare aircraft, using the ALQ-218 receiver system with ALQ-99 or Next Generation Jammer pods to disrupt enemy radar and communications. Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Nine (VX-9), based at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, conducts operational test and evaluation for Navy strike-fighter and electronic-attack aircraft, including early Growler airframes ahead of the type's fleet introduction.
