The EA-6B Prowler was a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft used by the U.S. Navy from the 1970s until its retirement in 2019. Designed to jam enemy radar, disrupt communications, and provide electronic support, it was equipped with advanced radar and communication countermeasure systems. The Prowler was primarily used to protect strike aircraft and provide tactical electronic warfare during conflicts like the Gulf War and Iraq War. It was crewed by a pilot and three electronic countermeasure officers.

VAQ-132, known as the Scorpions, was a U.S. Navy electronic warfare squadron established in 1969. Operating primarily with the EA-6B Prowler and later the EA-18G Growler, the squadron's mission was to conduct airborne electronic attack (AEA) operations, providing jamming and electronic countermeasures to protect Navy assets and disrupt enemy radar and communications systems. The Scorpions supported numerous conflicts, including Operation Desert Storm and the Global War on Terror. VAQ-132 earned a reputation for excellence in electronic warfare, playing a critical role in enhancing fleet survivability. The squadron was decommissioned in 2020 after more than five decades of service.
