About the EA-6B Prowler

Derived from the A-6 Intruder airframe, the twin-engine EA-6B Prowler entered service in the early 1970s as a dedicated carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft. Its crew of one pilot and three electronic countermeasures officers operated jamming and surveillance systems to protect strike aircraft, and the type could also carry AGM-88 HARM missiles to suppress enemy air defenses. The Prowler served from Vietnam through Iraq before being phased out in favor of the EA-18G Growler.
