About the EA-6 Prowler
Derived from the A-6 Intruder airframe, the twin-engine, carrier-based EA-6 entered service in the early 1970s carrying a crew of one pilot and three electronic countermeasures officers who operated its jamming and surveillance systems. Armed with AGM-88 HARM missiles to target enemy air defenses, the Prowler served from Vietnam through Iraq before being replaced by the EA-18G Growler in the late 2010s.
