Kaltenegger. A comprehensive biography, this riveting book follows the life of one of the Second World War's most accomplished snipers: Matthäus Hetzenauer. Born to a peasant family in Tyrol, he was — after being discharged in 1942 — redrafted by the German Army in early 1943 and began his prolific career as a sharpshooter, during which time he would accumulate more than 300 confirmed kills in Romania, Eastern Hungary, and Slovakia. He was also awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross in 1945, though he spent the next five years in Soviet captivity before being released in 1950. 192 pages, 16 pages of B&W photos, 6"x 9¼", hardcover.
