The F-35, a 5th generation stealth strike fighter, was first flown on December 15, 2006, and it is one of the most advanced aircraft of our time, said to be four times more effective at air-to-air combat and eight times more effective at air-to-ground combat than any other existing aircraft. Designed and built for its carrier operations, the F-35C was also designed with larger wings and a more robust landing gear than other variants, making it useful for catapult launches and fly-in arrestments aboard naval aircraft carriers.
Featuring a black skull on the tail from the VF-103 "Jolly Rogers," this 1/72 scale, die cast model is a Hobby Master replica of an F-35C Lightning II that served as a testing platform in 2012 for the new aircraft's antenna. It also features interchangeable extended/retracted landing gear that can be shown in the down or up positions, a presentation stand, authentic detachable ordnance loads, a pilot figure, and an opening canopy that reveal the cockpit interior. Constructed out of metal with some plastic components, it measures 8½" long and 7" wide.
