About the F-5 and VFC-111

The F-5 Freedom Fighter is a lightweight, twin-engine supersonic jet developed by Northrop in the 1960s for affordability and simplicity, capable of speeds over Mach 1.6 and widely exported to more than 30 countries under U.S. military assistance programs. VFC-111 "Sundowners," a U.S. Navy Reserve adversary squadron based at NAS Key West, flies the F-5N to simulate enemy fighters during air combat training.
