At a special air show for high ranking military and government officials, Rudolf Opitz, chief test pilot for the Me 163 Comet, shows off the rocket-powered aircraft to Luftwaffe chief Field Marshal Herman Goering. Although the warbird would not play a significant role in combat, it was perhaps the most technically advanced fighter of the war and a radical departure from conventional design.
