The 83rd Pennsylvania regiment was a volunteer regiment that participated in almost every major battle in the east and will great addition to almost any Civil War display. Here the infantryman is reaching into his cartridge pouch to grab another paper cartridge that he will use to re-load his gun. A paper cartridge is a premeasured amount of powder and metal ball which the soldier used as ammunition.
