The KF-5E Jegong-Ho is a lightweight multirole fighter aircraft operated by the Republic of Korea Air Force. Developed as a licensed production variant of the Northrop F-5E Tiger II, the KF-5E was built by Korean Air in the 1980s as part of South Korea's effort to strengthen its domestic aerospace industry. Designed for air superiority and ground-attack missions, the aircraft is powered by two General Electric J85 turbojet engines, enabling it to reach speeds of around Mach 1.6. Compact, agile, and relatively inexpensive to operate, the KF-5E has served as a reliable platform for pilot training and frontline defense. Though gradually being replaced by more advanced fighters, the Jegong-Ho played a crucial role in modernizing South Korea's air capabilities.
