About the LCVP
The LCVP, commonly known as the Higgins boat, was the shallow-draft landing craft used to ferry troops and light vehicles from ship to shore during Allied amphibious operations, most famously the D-Day landings in Normandy on June 6, 1944, where its bow ramp allowed infantry to disembark directly onto the beach under fire.
