About the Fw 190D-9

Nicknamed the "Dora," the Fw 190D-9 was a long-nosed derivative of the radial-engined Fw 190 fitted instead with a liquid-cooled Junkers Jumo 213A inline engine, which gave it markedly better performance at high altitude. Introduced in late 1944, it is regarded as one of the most capable German piston-engine fighters of World War II and was flown by elite Luftwaffe units defending the Reich in the war's final months.
