The MiG-15bis is an upgraded version of the Soviet MiG-15, a pioneering jet fighter that made its debut during the Korean War in the early 1950s. Powered by the Klimov VK-1 turbojet engine, the MiG-15bis could reach speeds of over 600 mph, making it one of the fastest fighters of its time. Its distinctive swept-wing design provided excellent performance at high speeds and altitudes. Equipped with a pair of 23mm cannons, it was a potent adversary against the United Nations' forces, particularly the American F-86 Sabre. The MiG-15bis featured enhanced avionics and improved engine reliability over earlier models, ensuring its effectiveness in combat. Although it was eventually surpassed by more advanced aircraft, the MiG-15bis remained in service with various air forces worldwide for several decades, cementing its reputation as one of the most successful early jet fighters.
