About the MiG-17F

Introduced in the early 1950s as an improved version of the MiG-17, the Fresco C added a more powerful engine and a radar-ranging gunsight, reaching speeds up to Mach 0.93. Armed with three 23mm cannons and able to carry rockets and bombs, it served in both dogfighting and ground-attack roles. Widely exported and produced under license, including as the Chinese J-5, it saw combat in numerous Cold War-era conflicts.
