The MiG-25 - created as a rapid interceptor to deflect the threatening US XB-70 Valkyrie bomber - was first flown on September 9, 1964. This aircraft was built with a pair of enormous turbojet engines, capable of launching it to a top speed of Mach 3, and the Foxbat was considered one of the fastest production aircraft to enter service.
