About the MiG-31K
The MiG-31K is a variant of the Soviet-designed MiG-31 "Foxhound" long-range interceptor, adapted specifically to carry the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal, an air-launched ballistic missile credited with a range of roughly 2,000 km. Based on the MiG-31BM airframe, which is capable of speeds over Mach 2.8, the K variant trades part of the type's original air-defense role for a dedicated strike mission and has been assigned to Russian Aerospace Forces Long Range Aviation Command units.
