About this book
Established by the Kremlin in 2013 and led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, the Wagner private military company was first deployed in Ukraine's Donbas region in 2014, took part in Russia's intervention in the Syrian civil war from 2015, and later extended operations to several African countries and Venezuela. It became one of the fighting forces involved in Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine before Prigozhin led an armed mutiny against the Russian government in June 2023. Author Mark Galeotti, a specialist on modern Russia, examines the group's history, its actions, and the events surrounding its rebellion and eventual dissolution, with orders of battle, unit profiles and eight commissioned artwork plates.
