About the RA-5C Vigilante

The RA-5C was a supersonic, carrier-based reconnaissance aircraft developed from the A-5 Vigilante for the U.S. Navy, powered by two General Electric J79 turbojet engines capable of exceeding Mach 2. During the Vietnam War it flew high-risk photographic reconnaissance missions over heavily defended territory until its retirement in the late 1970s.
