About the campaign
The 1944 battle for Romania involved German, Romanian, Soviet, American and British forces and saw the German Sixth Army destroyed for a second time, after Stalingrad, when Romania turned its army against its former Axis partner. The book traces the German-Romanian defense during the first Iasi-Chisinau offensive in spring 1944, the Allied campaign to assist the Soviets, the Axis collapse during the second Iasi-Chisinau offensive in August, Romania's defeat of an attempted German counter-coup, and the final Soviet occupation of the country.
