The legendary SBD-1 Dauntless dive bomber was the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps' dive-bomber. The aircraft served at Pearl Harbor flying off the USS Enterprise, but is mainly remembered as the bomber that dropped the fatal blows on the Japanese carriers at the Battle of Midway in June 1942. In total, the Dauntless sank more enemy shipping than any other Allied bomber.
