About the Record-Setting Final Flight
On March 6, 1990, Yeilding and Vida flew SR-71 tail number 61-7972 from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. in 64 minutes and 20 seconds, setting four speed records on the way to delivering the aircraft to the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum -- records that still stand today.
