About the StuG IV
Developed to give the German army an assault gun capable of serving as a tank destroyer late in World War II, the StuG IV mounted a StuK 40 75mm L/48 high-velocity gun in an armored casemate. Distributed to units from early 1944, it supplemented and often replaced the StuG III after Allied bombing raids disrupted that vehicle's production, and its low profile made it difficult for opponents to spot.
