About the subject
During the early years of U.S. involvement in Vietnam, the CIA helped arm local militia groups in South Vietnam that came to be known as the "Fighting Fathers," a reference to the Catholic priests who organized them. These groups fought alongside local parishioners against the Vietcong insurgency in their localities.
