The M26 "Dragon Wagon" - equipped here with its 40-ton M15 trailer - was introduced during World War II to meet the need for a tank deployment/recovery vehicle, immediately providing a substantial upgrade over its Diamond T predecessor. It was not replaced until 1955 when the M123 6x6 semi-tractor was introduced.
