About the Marine Corps Women's Reserve
Established on February 13, 1943, the Marine Corps Women's Reserve trained nearly 19,000 women during World War II, who served as full-fledged Marines rather than in an auxiliary capacity, working in more than 200 specialties to free male Marines for combat duty.
