About the USS Bainbridge

USS Bainbridge (DLGN/CGN-25) was commissioned in 1962 as a nuclear-powered guided-missile frigate — the U.S. Navy's first nuclear-powered destroyer-leader type — and was redesignated a guided-missile cruiser (CGN-25) in the Navy's 1975 fleet classification overhaul. Part of the Navy's Cold War nuclear surface fleet, she served for over three decades in the Atlantic, Pacific, Mediterranean, and off Vietnam before being decommissioned in 1996.
