About the YF-23
Developed by Northrop in the 1980s for the U.S. Air Force's Advanced Tactical Fighter competition, the YF-23 Black Widow II was a prototype stealth fighter built around a sleek, angular airframe optimized for a minimal radar signature, powered by twin Pratt & Whitney F119 engines capable of supercruise. Only two prototypes were built before the program's final selection went to the rival YF-22, which became the F-22 Raptor.
