About the Bf 108 Taifun

Developed by Messerschmitt in the 1930s as a single-engine, four-seat sport and liaison aircraft, the all-metal Bf 108 was prized for its aerodynamic efficiency and retractable landing gear, features that were unusual for a civilian design of the era. Powered by an Argus As 10 engine, it served the Luftwaffe in communication and liaison roles during World War II, and its design directly influenced Messerschmitt's later Bf 109 fighter.
