In January 1960, the 494th TFS "Panthers"/48th TFW relocated to RAF Lakenheath, England. They flew the F-111F Aardvark between 1977 and 1992, until receiving the F-15C in 1994. The F-111F was moved to the 494th TFS for Operation Desert Storm, before being transferred to the 524th FS "Hounds of Heaven" through 1996.< /br>
