About the F-14B Tomcat
The F-14B replaced the original F-14A's Pratt & Whitney TF30 engines with General Electric F110-GE-400 turbofans, giving roughly 30 percent more thrust and allowing carrier launches without afterburner. First flown as the F-14A+ and formally redesignated F-14B in 1991, the variant equipped Navy fighter squadrons including VF-103, which flew F-14Bs from USS George Washington in support of Operation Southern Watch over Iraq.
