About the Book
The 8-mile Schnee Eifel ridge along Germany's western frontier became the site of a drawn-out struggle between US and German forces. Chapman chronicles the US 4th Infantry Division's September 1944 assault, the months-long stalemate that followed, the German counteroffensive during the Battle of the Bulge that winter, and the American return to retake the ridge in February 1945, drawing on archival research and personal accounts.
