About the P-47D Thunderbolt
The P-47D Thunderbolt was a single-seat, low-wing American fighter-bomber powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine producing over 2,000 horsepower. Heavily armed with eight .50 caliber Browning machine guns and capable of carrying bombs and rockets, it served effectively both as a bomber escort and as a ground-attack aircraft from 1943 onward across multiple theaters.
