The Tiran 5 was an Israeli-modified version of the Soviet-built T-55, captured during conflicts such as the Six-Day War. Refitted to meet Israeli standards, it featured Western equipment including a 105 mm main gun replacing the original Soviet cannon, along with improved communications and fire control systems. External stowage, machine guns, and minor armor enhancements were also added. These upgrades increased compatibility with Israeli logistics and ammunition supplies. The Tiran 5 combined the rugged reliability of the T-55 chassis with more effective firepower and usability. It served in the Israeli Defense Forces for years and was later exported to allied nations for continued military use.
