About USS Enterprise (CV-6)
Commissioned in 1938 and nicknamed "the Big E," the Enterprise fought in major Pacific battles including Midway, the Philippine Sea and Leyte Gulf, survived multiple kamikaze strikes, and finished World War II as the U.S. Navy's most decorated ship of the conflict. It was decommissioned in 1947.
